A chicka interpretation of The Walking Dead

Being an avid TWD (The Walking Dead, if you don't know what it is, shame on you!) fan, I was disappointed for missing out on this awesome Michonne collectible statue so I decided to make my own Chicka version.
Start with a wire armature. Yeah, something like this.
Wrap with florist tape.
Make the zombie. A touch of entrails is a good thing. BTW, did you see the TWD comic issue where a zombie's entrails got caught and he was snapped back like a bungee cord? That was awesome!
And this is my Chicka interpretation of Michonne.
Zombie head. Looks more like alien at this stage. But every head goes through an alien stage. Yes, even zombie heads.
Attach head with a splatter of red isomalt blood.
Make the shoes. Yeah yeah, I know Michonne wears leather boots but my Chickas wear floral Docs, so floral Docs it is!
JUST LOOK AT THE FLOWERS!! Handpainted with a 0000-size Winsor & Newton round tipped brush, using Americolor airbrush paint (edible, of course!) and with the aid of a pair of very cool-looking magnifying goggles, so cool that hubby thought I should wear them to work.... yeah, righto hun!
More painting. Bigger brush this time.
Waiting for things to dry..... patience is not my greatest virtue!
Dreadlocks really tried my patience but here she is, finally finished..... phew!

Lulu skip to ma Lou

Gravity defying creations are always fascinating and a big challenge in making figurines. I love a challenge. So, meet Lulu my skipping in mid-air Chicka. She got the name Lulu from people who liked her in my Facebook page. Than you peoples! I confess I'm absolute stoked with her and even hubby's impressed.

Bow chicka wow wow wow.....

Stripper pole dancer cake topper for an 18th birthday cake.

Eek! It's Jack Skellington!

I made this Jack Skellington cake topper. He's quite special because he was commissioned by a customer from Canberra. My first Canberra customer! I didn't have to worry about packing and shipping, which was kinda nice. Been making and shipping figurines for more than a year now and finally got a Canberra order.
And here's Jack happily perched on the cake made by my customer. She did a most awesome job, don't you agree?

Runner-up in the Open Sugar Art Class!

I came second in the Open Sugar Art Class at the Cake Bake & Sweets Show in Sydney last weekend.
Got a certificate and trophy. Never won a trophy in my life! That's cool.
But what's really cool is Dawn Butler from Dinkydoodle was at the show doing some airbrushing demo. She's here all the way from the UK and yes, she's the model for my bobblehead... AND...... my bobblehead got a big nod of approval from her. Eek! She was disappointed she couldn't get near enough to my entry to take a picture so with the help from my cakey friends, we got the organiser to arrange some photos and here they are...

Thank you so much to the organisers of the Cake Bake & Sweets Show, and the very lovely ladies from the NSW Cake Decorators Guild. Most of all, thank you Dawn for being such a trooper!

But very special thanks go to my cakey friends on Facebook. I've never met anyone of you but for the past 2 years (has it been 2 years already??) I've learned so much from you all and the support and encouragement I get from you lot are simply amazing! Couldn't thank you enough.

Last but not least, I must thank my dear hubby Greg who has supported me in every way. You're awesome, hunny. MWAH!
